Wolverhampton Hotels
Situated in the West Midlands, northwest of its larger near-neighbour Birmingham, Wolverhampton began life as a market town focused on the woollen trade. During the industrial revolution it specialised in the manufacture of steel, cars and motorcycles, as well as japanning. Today, the major industries within the city are both engineering-based (including a large aerospace industry) and within the service sector.
There is a compact shopping area, much of which is under cover, a lively outdoor and indoor market with cafes, bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets and plenty of green space such as West Park with its Victorian Conservatory. Wolverhampton Wanderers – "Wolves", as they are known – are one of the oldest English football clubs, and were one of the 12 founder members of the Football League.
